For more than thirty years, Helen Vanderburg has been one of the most innovative and internationally recognized fitness leaders in the world. Unfortunately, like so many Canadians, she’s too humble to say that, so we’ve taken over the keyboard to write this description:)
She is known for her passion, contagious energy and inspirational style of teaching. With over 30 years of experience studying human movement Helen is the creator and author of Fusion Workouts and Fusion Fitness Training™. Fusion Fitness Training™ is a program that brings together the best of fitness, yoga, Pilates and barre to help participants get fit, improve their strength, change their body composition and feel energized.
In addition to owning and operating, one of Canada’s top fitness clubs (Heavens Fitness), Helen has taught at every major international health and fitness conference in the world as well as consulted in program development for virtually every major fitness equipment company in the world.
In addition to being a former World Champion and International Hall of Fame synchronized swimmer, Helen has been recognized for her outstanding contribution to the fitness industry receiving the IDEA 1996 Program Director of the Year, IDEA 2005 Fitness Instructor of the Year, the 2006 and 1996 CanFitPro Presenter of the Year, 2001 Women of Vision award, and the 2001 Mall Peepre National Fitness Leadership Memorial Award.
Beyond her accomplishments in athletics and the fitness industry, Helen is a highly sought after presenter and teacher trainer in yoga, Pilates, fitness and Fusion workshops across the globe from China, Australia, South East Asia, Thailand, Brazil, Europe as well as throughout North America.
When Jeanine was introduced to yoga in 1998 she immediately knew that practicing and studying yoga was going to be “her life sentence”. After completing her initial Ashtanga teacher training, she was introduced to the brilliant world of alignment of Iyengar yoga. Her most influential teachers are Hart Lazer, Margot Kitchen, Tim Miller and Judith Lasater.
Jeanine combines her passion for yoga with her fitness, Pilates and physical education background to create classes and programs that benefit her students. Jeanine believes in combining convential yoga methods with non-traditional techniques and applications to expand awareness of posture and quality of movement.
Jeanine has been instrutmental in the development of the 200 hour Fusion Teacher Training Course and is one the Lead Trainers. She loves sharing her knowledge and experiences of the various paths of yoga and inspires trainees to become confident in their ability to teach yoga classes that are safe and sound.
Jeanine recently completed the Yoga Therapy Program at Mount Royal Universisty in Calgary. She enjoys designing customized yoga programs for her clients and believes that her job as a yoga therapist is ‘to make yoga work for you’.
Terry Kane is a sports and orthopaedic physiotherapist in Calgary, who has contributed his knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics and rehabilitation to ensure the safety of the Fusion Fitness Training program.
In addition, Terry teaches the anatomy and biomechanics component in the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Course.
Since graduating from the University of Toronto in 1985, Terry Kane has not only held positions as Head Physical Therapist with Canada’s Olympic Hockey Team and the Calgary Flames, but also worked with some the leading sports medicine physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, sports psychologists and high performance coaches in North America and Europe.
In addition to his clinical work, Terry has spoken at some of the most respected health and fitness conferences in the world, including the American College of Sports Medicine, Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine, CanFitPro and IDEA as well as serving as an editorial peer reviewer for a number of sports medicine journals.
